
Direct Support Professional (DSP) Requirements
Key Responsibilities:

Daily Activity Support: Organizing and implementing activities that promote independence and a positive, person-centered environment.

Decision Making & Problem Solving: Independently making decisions on best practices, quality assurance, and problem-solving, including documentation of serious incidents.

Documentation & Progress Tracking: Completing necessary documentation for goal progress, daily/weekly/monthly notes, and accurate support records.

Team Collaboration: Working with individuals, families, and staff to foster independence and provide community-integrated support.

Health & Safety Duties: Applying training in First Aid/CPR, restraint, medication administration, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Daily Living Support: Providing physical or verbal assistance with personal hygiene, cooking, and cleaning tasks as needed.
Minimum Requirements:

Education: High school diploma or GED.

Age Requirement:18 years of age or older.

Driving & License: Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Certifications: First aid/CPR, medication management & TOVA (Therapeutic Options of VA)

Emotional Maturity & Patience: Ability to understand the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities.

Preferred Experience: Training or experience in mental health or human services.
